Within a few months, after he earned his high school graduation, he formed the rap group R.M.G. They signed a recording deal with Virgin Records in 1991.
Later they renamed their group College Boyz and their debut single College Boyz was released in 1992. Their debut album Radio Fusion Radio was released on the 7th of April 1992. He has been active as an actor since 1998.
That year, he was seen in TV series like Touched by an Angel and For Your Love. He played the role of Frank "Heavyhands" Cato in the TV series For Your Love. The following year he made his feature film debut by starring the role of Syn in the direct-to-video horror film Urban Menace.
Later on, he appeared in several movies like The 40-Year-Old Virgin, The Love Guru, and so on. He got his rise in fame in 2005 after he began starring the role of Conrad Shepard in an American black comedy-drama television series Weeds.
