Rosa Parks was born as Rosa Louise McCauley in the early 2013 to Leona (née Edwards) and James McCauley. She was born and raised in a middle class family in Tuskegee, Alabama, United States of American. She was an American and was of African descent.

Finished her high school

After Rosa's parents got divorced, she began living with her mother in Pine Level. She was raised by her maternal grandparents and mother. She pursued her primary education till she was aged 12 years old and then she quit her school to take care of her mother and grandmother. But at the age of 20, she completed her high school graduation.

Married to Raymond Parks

In 1932, Rosa got married to Raymond Parks. Raymond Parks was a barber. They were together into this married life for about four decades but they were childless. This married life ended in 1977 because of Raymond Parks death. 

1943

Became active in the Civil Rights Movement

She was active as a civil right activist since the end of 1943. During that time, she joined Civil Rights Movement. She joined the Montgomery chapter of the NAACP as its secretary. She served in this position till 1957.

December 1 , 1955

Was arrested

On 1st of December 1955, she boarded the Cleveland Avenue bus and sat in an empty seat in the first row of back seats. After her driver James F. Blake ordered her to give up her seat but she refused his request. Later he called the police and she was arrested. 

1980

Founded Rosa L Parks Scholarship Foundation

In 1980, she founded Rosa L. Parks Scholarship Foundation. This scholarship was mainly awarded to high school seniors. At the end of 1980s, she also founded Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute for Self Development. She founded this organization with Elaine Eason Steele.

She died

Rosa Parks was a civil rights activist from United States with African and American origin. She was best known as the first lady of civil rights and the mother of the freedom movement. At the end of 2005, she died at her resident in Detroit. She died of of natural causes on 24th of October.
