Russell Brand, aka. Russell Edward Brand, is an English actor, comedian, author, radio host, and activist. Starting off as a stand-up comedian, Brand went on to become an MTV presenter and later also hosted Big Brother's Big Mouth, a Big Brother spin-off.

An English comedian, actor, radio host, author, and activist Russell Edward Brand was born on 4 June 1975, in Orsett Hospital in Grays, Essex, England. He is the only child of Barbara Elizabeth and Ronald Henry Brand.

He was raised by his mother and had a hard childhood. Brand finished his schooling at Grays School Media Arts. And In 1991, he was accepted to join Italia Conti Academy where he had his tuition funded by Essex County Council.

Russell Brand's first performance as a stand-up comedian was at Hackney Empire in 2000, where he finished fourth. Though he finished fourth, he managed very well to attract the attention of Nigel Klarfeld, an agent of Bound Comedy Ltd.
He later performed in Edinburg at Pablo Diablo’s Cryptic Triptych, with puppet master Mark Felgate and Anglo- Iranian comic writer Shappi Khorsandi.
He did his first one-man show; Better Now in 2004, for the Edinburgh Festival, as a reaction to his honest account of his heroin addiction.
Later that year, he came back with Eroticised Humor and made his first nationwide tour for the series Shame. In his comic series Shame, he used his life encounters and portrayed them as comic characters.

The brand 2007 performed for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip at the Royal Variety Performance. Following his success, he made his second nationwide tour, which was also made available on DVD and was called; Russell Brand: Only Joking.
Brand later started performing in the US and recorded for Comedy Central which was titled Russell Brand which made its airing in New York in March 2009.

The brand was married to American singer Katy Perry. The couple got engaged on New Year's Eve 2009 in India and married on 23 October 2010. Their wedding was a Hindu ceremony that was held near the Ranthambhore tiger sanctuary in Rajasthan.
Despite all, they could not sustain their relationship as Brand filed for divorce on 30 December 2011, citing irreconcilable differences and their divorce was declared in July 2012.
Talking about their unsuccessful marriage, Brand's ex-wife Katy in her 2012 autobiographical documentary Katy Perry: Part of Me mentioned that their work commitments and conflicting schedule impacted their marriage. Further, she also mentioned that her not feeling ready to have children was also one of the reasons for the divorce.
