Ruth was married to William Henry Baldwin, Jr. who also devoted his life in the welfare of the African-American migrants. At the end of 1800s, he founded the Committee for Improving the Industrial Conditions of Negroes in New York. He devoted this life for the African American people. He died in 1905.

Ruth Standish Baldwin was best known for being the co founder of the Committee on Urban Conditions among Negroes. She joined George Edmund Haynes and together they formed a Committee on Urban Conditions among Negroes (CUAN). In 1920, she served as an Executive Director of National Urban League.

Ruth was married to William Henry Baldwin, Jr. who also devoted his life in the welfare of the African-American migrants. Even after the death of her husband, she continued to work for black people. Later on, she joined George Edmund Haynes and together they formed a Committee on Urban Conditions among Negroes (CUAN).
