Sanjaya has been keeping his personal profile low and secret. Till now he has not revealed anything about his love affairs and married life. It seems like he is still single.
Sanjaya began living with his mother after his parents got divorced when he was just three. While he was in Kauai, Hawaii, he joined Hawaii Children's Theater group. He also performed at the Total Experience Gospel Choir. He received his elementary education from Martha Lake Elementary School and then he got enrolled at Seattle Waldorf School and Northshore Junior High School. He also studied in Todd Beamer High School for several years. On 19th of September 2006, he appeared on the open audition for American Idol. He performed the song of Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours during his audition. During the middle of this competition his performance was poor and Judge Simon Cowell criticized him badly for that permanence but he advanced to the next round because of the public vote. His self titled debut album, Sanjaya Malakar was released on 10th of June 2007. His net worth is said to be around $300 thousand dollars.
