Saoirse made her acting debut in an Irish primetime television medical drama series, The Clinic, which was produced by Parallel Film Productions for RTÉ. After a couple of years, she featured in television series, Proof, which was created by Tony Philpott and directed by Ciaran Donnelly and Thaddeus O'Sullivan.
In 2007, Saoirse featured in an American romantic comedy movie, I Could Never Be Your Woman, along with Michelle Pfeiffer and Paul Rudd. Amy Heckerling directed the film. In the same year, she performed in another hit movie, Atonement, as Briony Tallis. The total budget for the movie was $30 million. The movie became a huge hit and made a collection of $129.3 million at the box office.
After a couple of years, Saoirse appeared in a supernatural drama movie, The Lovely Bones, directed by Peter Jackson. Currently, Saoirse is shooting for her upcoming American drama film, Mary Queen of Scots, directed by Josie Rourke and written by Beau Willimon. The movie is based on John Guy's biography; My Heart Is My Own: The Life of Mary Queen of Scots. The movie is set to be released on November 2, 2018, in the United States.
