Scarlett Johansson becomes Hollywood's highest paid female actress of all time

Scarlett Johansson has already raked in more than 3 billion dollars in the United States box office in 2016, making her the highest-paid female actress of all time as well as earning her the 10th spot in the highest-earning actors in a list compiled by Box Office Mojo. 

The 31-year-old is not only the highest-ranked actress on the list but also the youngest star in the top 10. This placing also makes Johansson the highest-earning actress of all time.

Harrison Ford, Samuel L. Jackson, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hanks, Robert Downey Jr., Eddie Murphy, Tom Cruise, Michael Caine, and Johnny Depp respectively got the top nine positions.

The next actress on the list is Cameron Diaz, earning the 19th spot. Helena Bonham Carter, Cate Blanchett, Julia Roberts, Elizabeth Banks, Emma Watson, and Anne Hathaway are the only other actresses in the top 50.

Scarlett Johansson is a chain smoker and has been smoking since she was 15. She has even tried to go cold turkey a numerous times but has failed in her effort to do so till date.

Johansson,in an interview in May, gave her thoughts on the pay gap in Hollywood.

"There's something icky about me having that conversation unless it applies to a greater whole. I am very fortunate, I make a really good living, and I'm proud to be an actress who's making as much as many of my male peers at this stage

I think everyone woman has [been underpaid]. But unless I'm addressing it as a larger problem, for me to talk about my own personal experience with it feels a little obnoxious. It's part of a larger conversation about feminism in general." said the avenger actress.
