Shalita Grant was the YoungArts Winner in Theater and Presidential Scholar in arts in the same school. She was very good in academics as well as dramas which led her to study in scholarship in the Julliard School for B.F.A in Drama. She graduated in the year 2010.
In the year 2013, Shalita got nominated for a Tony Award for the best-featured actress in a play for her role as Cassandra in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. The play won Drama Desk Award for outstanding play, and Tony for Best Play. In the same year, she also won Theatre World award for outstanding Broadway Debut.
Grand had a tough time before she landed on NCIS: New Orleans. Soon after her Tony award, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue television. There, she struggled with 54 different auditions within one year for various roles. She even slapped herself once in one of those auditions. At one point, she went so broke that she had to turn to bartending before landing on a series as a guest star in The Good Wife (which also features Cara Buono and Matthew Goode), Melissa and Joey, Bones and Battle Creek. Finally, she landed on NCIS (2014). She has also been a cast-member in an Oscar-nominated documentary Rehearsing a Dream’ (2006).
The actress who is in her late 20s is very much health conscious. Even though her work occupies over 14 hours of her day on set, she manages to keep herself fit. In an interview, she revealed that she never eats anything except her own meal and that she always carries a meal with her for the day. She also said that she never misses working out a single day and that she does the different type of workouts.
