Before becoming a famous actor, Fernandez did many low end jobs. He worked as a dishwasher, and later worked as an American apparel catalog model; hand-picked by the company's CEO, Dov Charney. Later he moved to Los Angeles and asked Charney for a job and was hired as a stock boy. Fernandez's first acting gig was a commercial for first 5 California that was directed by Vadim Perelman.
Fernandez made his television debut in an episode of “Cold Case”. Further, Fernandez became one of the front-runners to play Edward after he auditioned Catherine Hardwicke in her Venice Beach garage. Hardwicke was cast as Fernandez in “Red Ridding Hood” opposite Amanda Seyfried. The role became his Hollywood movie breakthrough, making him a Hollywood hot cake. Fernandez was the cover model for Nylon Guys introducing him as “Hollywood’s New Rebel” and also featured in the cover of Da Man magazine.
Moreover, Shiloh starred in the remake of "Evil Dead" and in the independent film "Syrup", based on the novel of the same name by Max Barry. He earned one of the leading roles in the Canadian thriller film Backcountry.
Moving towards his personal life, previously Fernandez was dating an English actress, Juno Temple but unfortunately, the couple split up. Fernandez is greatly interested in country music, and his dream role is to play a country music star someday. He is a good friend of actor Thomas Dekker.
Fernandez once told that he used to smoke pot during his high school days to help him relax, but he stated that he is no more stoner and is out of the addiction.
