Prior to founding the luxury online fashion brand, Shilpa worked as Senior Information Architect at Scient, from September 2000 – August 2001, and Nexad, from January 2002 – July 2002.
She also worked as Walt Disney Parks and Resorts as Online Manager of Information Architecture and at Punchcut, a San Francisco, California-based company specializing in connected digital products and services, as Design Director of Solutions.
In 2010, Shilpa joined the full-time MBA program at University of California Berkeley's Haas School of Business and completed the degree in 2012. It was during her last semester at the university that she co-founded Cuyana.
Cuyana, which purveys chic, high-quality apparels for women, is a” direct-to-consumer, data-led fashion e-commerce startup" which is built around "buy less" ethos. Apart from the regular pop-ups it organizes throughout the US, the brand also maintains its permanent presence through the store it operates on Abbot Kinney, in Los Angeles. It recently had its first runway moment during the New York Fashion Week.
Shilpa’s husband is a doctor. She lives with her husband and two children. Her skills revolve around information architecture interaction, user interface design, product management, ethnography business strategy, marketing strategy and e-commerce, among others.
