2008

Started Career in Junior Australian Open

Simona started the career playing in junior competitions where she reached the final round in Nottinghill but lost to Arantxa Rus. She defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the quarter-final at the Australian Open junior Championships before she loose in the semifinal with Jessica Moore.   

2009

Ranked as World Top 450 players

In August 2009, Simona Halep got victory over ITF tournaments and entered the semifinals of ITF tournaments in Minsk and ITF tournament in Poland in November which leads her to moved 450 places up in world rankings

2013

Won two WTA Titles

She won her two WTA titles and became the first Romanian Woman to win back to back title at different surfaces. She became the only player of the year to win titles on different courts- grass, clay, indoor, and hard courts. 

2014

Won WTA Most Improved Player Award

Simona was listed in outstanding player due to her rapid growth in world Top player ranking. On 21 November 2013, Simona won the WTA Most Improved Player of the Year Award. She was also entitled at ESPN Center Court’s Most Improved Player of 2013. 

2015

Ranked as World Top 2 players.

After losing with Maria Sharapova and Agnieszka, Simona failed to qualify further. However, she kept her No. 2 position in the WTA rankings, ending the season with her best ever year-end ranking. She won three titles and had a win-loss record of 40-10.

Simona started her career playing in Junior Australian Open and got the first victory at Trofeo Bonfiglio. She won Roland Garros Junior Championship and continues playing ITF tournament. After the glorious victory over ITF tournament, she entered the semifinals of ITF in 2009 and ranked her place as the world 450 players.

In 2010 she entered the Australian Open but lost several tournaments. Halep got qualified for the French open in 2011 and reached ASB Classic quarterfinals where she suffers failure but got the first victory against top 20 ranked tennis player in the first round. In US Open, she defeated Li Na who was top 10 ranked players and in French open, she reached quarterfinal and ranked in world 47 players.

Halep won two WTA titles on different surfaces and became the first Romanian woman to do so. In 2013, she was awarded as WTA Most Improved Player of the Year and entitled at ESPN Center Court’s Most Improved Player. Simona ended 2014 reaching top 2 players, First Major final & WTA Finals debut and 2015 season as No. 2 position in the WTA ranking and won three titles and also ended 2016 as Second Premier Mandatory title.

Simona was linked in an affair with several boyfriends and one on the list Horia Tecau. The pair was rumored to be dating for a long time and were also rumored to get married some time. Simona currently is dating former Romanian tennis player Radu Barbu.
