Sophia Choi is the name of the famous American news broadcaster. She is well known for being the anchor at WSB-TV based in Atlanta, Georgia.
Sophia Choi was born in Daegu, South Korea on the 5th of November in 1971. She has not disclosed the name of her parents but Choi holds a Korean nationality and belongs to the Joseon ethnic background. She moved to Maryland in America when she was 7 years of age and later relocated to Memphis, Tennessee.
For her education, Sophia Choi attended Hollywood Elementary School located in Maryland and was later to transferred to Briarcrest Baptist High School in Memphis. After her high school, she enrolled at the University of Missouri, from where she later graduated with a degree in Journalism.
Sophia Choi first worked at the University’s television station KOMU-TV and later at University’s radio station, KBIA. But professionally she started her career with WSET-TV as a general assignment reporter.
She then started serving at the NBC affiliate WVTM-TV as a general assignment reporter and later as a weekend morning anchor. There she was nominated for an Emmy Award for her special report, Dirty Downloading.
Further, she joined the CBS affiliate in Los Angeles, KCBS-TV as a general assignment. Later she was promoted to the weekday morning anchor. After some time, Choi moved to Atlanta, Georgia and became a prime-time anchor for CNN's Headline News, where she has worked with anchors like Jean Casarez and Mike Galanos.
In 2007, Sophia joined KVBC, where she served till 2010 and then joined WSB-TV and currently works there alongside anchors namely Tom Brokaw and Mark Strassmann's wife Linda Stouffer.
Aside from her media career, Sophia Choi appeared in numerous movies and television shows including The Torture, Primary Colors, starring John Travolta and Kathy Bates, and Special Unit 2.
