In his initial phase of career, Stan Lee first served as an assistant at the New Timely Comics division, based in pulp magazines and comic-book publisher Martin’s Goodman’s company. After 3 decades, he was hired by the Timely editor, Joe Simon.

Later, he started writing comics along with a backup featured Headline Hunter and a Foreign Correspondent.

Lee also joined the United States Army, where he served in the Signal Corps, repairing telegraph poles and other communications equipment. He served his country with slogans, writing manuals and training films for the U.S.  He started writing comics in the 40s, working in the shadow of prominent publisher National Periodical. The company later modify its name as DC Comics, feeling that it will be easier to remember.

In coming years, Stan Lee stood as a figurehead and public face for Marvel Comics. First, he was the editor-in-chief and then came out as publisher and finally as a chairperson, prior to leaving the Marvels Comics to become the company’s chairperson emeritus and a member of the editorial board.

During his career at Marvel Comics, Lee and Jack Kirby created the Hulk, Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Daredevil, Doctor Strange, and the X-Men. He also credited Thor, Captain America, and the Silver Surfer.

In 2012, he wrote a novel "Romeo and Juliet,"  which became New York Times' best-selling graphics of the time. After that, he launched a Youtube channel named "Stan Lee World of Heroes."

Besides being a writer, he has also appeared in films and TV shows; as well as, in some humanitarian work. In 2010, he started a foundation that works on literacy, education, and the arts; as well as, supports on ideas that enhance access to literacy resources and also to promote diversity, national literacy, culture and the arts.

Between 1981 and 2001, he has donated parts of his personal effects to the University of Wyoming for several times.

Lee is a married man. He exchanged the wedding vows with his girlfriend, Joan Clayton Boocock Lee. The pair is blessed with two children: John Celia Lee and Jan Lee.
