Stephanie Soechtig is an Oscar-winning director and she won the Oscar for her documentary Bowling for Columbine in 2002. Her last movie was Fed Up which was released in 2014 and it was acquired by TWC and it received a good theatrical release, as well as the movie, got commercial success too.
Stephanie Soechtig along with Katie Couric was sued for $12m for defective defects in the documentary “Under the Gun”. They were sued by a Virginia gun-rights group named Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL) and the case was filed in federal court and it was claimed that the producers intentionally manipulated the footage. They were charged $12 million as a compensation and $350,000 as per plaintiff.
