In 1986, Steve got married to Kathy Gerrity. He met Kathy for the first time when he was working in Washington, DC, TV station. Kathy is a former model and an actress. Within a year after being married to each other they welcomed their first child a son Peter Doocy in July 1987.
Steve received his elementary education from Kansan grade schools. Then he joined the junior high school in Wakefield. After earning his high school graduation from a high school in Clay Center, he joined the University of Kansas and finally earned his BS in Journalism. He joined KJHK radio as a DJ while he was studying at the University of Kansas.
He joined NBC cable as the co-host for Wake Up America. Along with that, he worked as the host of the kid's series, Not Just News. A few years later, he joined CBS-TV's flagship station, WCBS-TV where he worked as an anchor. He began working at Fox News Channel since 1996. His net worth is said to be around $2 million.
