Taissa Farmiga is an American actress known for her roles in Higher Ground (2011), American Horror Story: Murder House (2011), Wicked City(2015). She has also appeared in films like The Bling Ring (2013), Mindscape (2013), At Middleton (2013), The Final Girls (2015), 6 Years (2015), In a Valley of Violence (2016), Rules Don’t Apply (2016) and many more.
Taissa Farmiga was born on August 17, 1994, to parents Lubomyra (nee Spas), a schoolteacher, and Michael Farmiga a systems analyst. She was born and raised in White Station section of Readington, New Jersey, alongside her older siblings Victor, Vera, Stephan, Nadia, Alexander, and Laryssa. Taissa holds American nationality and belongs to White ethnicity.
Farmiga attended public school until she was in fourth grade after which she started homeschooling. She learned American Sign Language for four years and is proficient.
Before pursuing a career in acting, she had planned to become an accountant. Taissa first appeared in her sister Vera Farmiga’s directional drama Higher Ground where she portrayed the role of 16–year-old version of the lead character Corinne Walker. The same year, she participated in the first season of American Horror Story. She portrayed the role of Violet Harmon, the troubled daughter of Vivien (Connie Britton), and Ben Harmon (Dylan McDermott).
She then played the role of Sam Moore in The Bling Ring, a crime satire based on the real-life group of the same name. In 2013, Taissa starred alongside her sister Vera Farmiga and Andy Garcia in the romantic comedy At Middleton. The film was premiered in Seattle International Film Festival and received mixed to positive feedback from the public.
In 2013-14, Taissa returned to American Horror Story: Coven, where she portrayed the role of Zoe Benson, a young witch afflicted with a dark and dangerous power.
She then starred in Jorge Dorado’s psychological thriller Mindscape, also known as Anna. The film was premiered at the 2013 Sitges Film Festival. In 2014, she co-starred in the biographical crime drama Jamesy Boy.
In 2015, Taissa starred in three films subsequently that were premiered at the 2015 South by Southwest. The first was horror comedy film The Final Girls, where she portrayed the role of Cartwright. The second movie was a romantic drama 6 Years by Hannah Fidell.
The third one was a short drama Share by Pippa Bianco where she portrayed the role of Krystal Williams. Taissas' performances in these films were highly acclaimed, and she was listed as one of the breakout stars of the festival.
In 2015, Taissa appeared in ABC’s short-lived crime drama series Wicked City. However, the series got canceled after three episodes. Remaining unaired episodes later debuting on Hulu.
In 2016, Taissa made her stage debut from Off-Broadway drama Buried Child, also starring Ed Harris and Amy Madigan. The same year, she starred in the film In a Valley of Violence, opposite Ethan Hawke and John Travolta.
She also voiced the Superhero Raven in DC Comics’ Justice League vs. Teen Titans. She later returned to American Horror Story: Roanoke, for the sixth season.
Taissa then co-starred in romantic comedy-drama Rules Don’t Apply, which was premiered at the 2016 AFI Fest and received mixed reviews. She voiced the role of Raven for the second time in Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, which was premiered at the 2017 WonderCon.
She also appeared in Elizabeth Chomkos' drama film What They Had playing. She reunited with director Hannah Fidell for the comedy film The Long Dumb Road. Both her movies were premiered at the 2018 Sundance.
Taissa has been cast in Corin Hardy’s horror film The Nun as the title character, which is set to release in September 2018. She is also all set for portraying the protagonist Merricat Blackwood in the film adaption of Shirley Jackson's mystery novel We Have Always Lived in the Castle, opposite Sebastian Stan.
