Dirk is also the first international player to score 300,000 regular-season points and one of only three to reach the milestone with one team, including Karl Malone and Kobe Bryant.

In his 20-year long career, Dirk had more win shares in a season than the highest paid player in the league, 13 times. Dirk has never been the highest paid player in the NBA. The only time he has been the highest paid player in the Dallas is in 2016, with an annual earning of $25 million.

Dirk would be worth higher given he hadn't sacrificed millions in discount contracts for the Dallas. In 2006, Dirk had two years remaining on his original rookie extension when he agreed on another extension of $59 million for three years.

In case he hadn't taken the deal, he would in 2008 have been eligible for a six-year contract worth $158 million as a 10-year veteran at the team.

If Dirk wouldn't have walked out of the early max deal, his next contract with Dallas would be in 2014. Then he would have been eligible for a five-year deal worth $239 million max contract. Instead, he penned a three-year contract worth $25 million in 2014 and a one-year deal in 2016 worth $25 million.

With those contracts, Dirk's total career earning would be at $446 million by the end of the 2018-19 season, $194 million more than his actual career earning, $245 million.

Despite a career earning at about a quarter of $1 billion and an estimated net worth of $170 million, Dirk is often regarded as an underpaid athlete.
