In 1978, Ted got married to love of his life Gayle Haggard. He feels lucky to have her as his loving spouse and there is no any sign of them getting divorced. As a married couple, they have been parents five times. He is not involved in any kind of extra affairs and he also doesn't have any girlfriend though Mike Jones once claimed having sex with him for several years.
When Ted was seven, he was molested severely. In 1972, he turned into a born-again Christian. While he was in his high school, he also served as the co-editor of the high school newspaper. After graduating from his high school, he joined Oral Roberts University. There he majored in telecommunications and he also had a minor in journalism. He graduated from there in 1978. During the mid 1970s, he had a communication with god and from that time on he dreamed to be a pastor. At the end of 1984, he served as an associate pastor of Bethany World Prayer. During that time, he was interested in building his own church and few years later he founded New Life Church. He has also appeared in several movies and TV shows and is an author of several books.
