Maurice Richard “Maury” Povich is a famous television presenter and an actor. He is known for hosting tabloid talk shows. He's Jewish by decent born in Wahington, D.C and has three brothers. His parental grandfather came from Lithuania. He has a degree in television journalism.

Immediately after finish his graduation, his first job was in Washington, D.C, radio station WWDC, where he did publicity and worked as a reporter. Between 1977 to 1983, he worked as news anchors at stations in Chicago, new York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Philadelphia.

He was praised for this show, it dealt celebrity gossip and compelling human-related stories. It was entertaining and informative.

He was a presenter of a show in 1998,  Studio USA (then a division of USA Networks, later renamed Universal Television after being sold to Vivendi universal; and NBC universal television Distributor after VU entertainment was sold to NBC owner General electric). The critics called them Trash Tv and it came to be known as “Who’s the Daddy?’’ The show revealed the father of the child through DNA analysis and the result were revealed live on the show itself. It received a lot of negative criticisms.

On January 9, 2000, Povich hosted the short-lived primetime revival of the classic game show, Twenty One on NBC. Reruns of the show have been aired on GSN.

He then left current affairs to host The Maury Povich Show,  which was in partnership with Paramount Domestic Television. With his production company, “MoPo Production,”

In 2005, he co-hosted the show, MNBC Weekends with Maury and Connie, with his wife. It had a low rating and was canceled. He had a show name Maury lie Detector. He distributed free ticket for "The Maury Show."  

He appeared as himself in the fourth episode of the sixth season of the sitcom How I Met Your Mother. He appeared himself in the film Medea’s Big Happy Family. In 2007, he launched his Flathead beacon, a weekly newspaper, and online news source. He was married to Phyllis Minkoff from 1962 -1979. They have two daughters Susan and Amy. He divorced Phyllis in 1979.  He later married Connie Chung in 1984 and adopted son Mathew, Jay Povich.

He makes an annual salary of 13 million dollars. He has been an estimated net worth of $ 45 million.
