In the 1989 NFL Draft, he was signed by the Dallas Cowboys and the play with them for the next 12 years. After his retirement, Aikman joined Fox's NFC telecasts as a sports commentator for the 2001 season. In 2002, he was named the network's lead announcing crew alongside Joe Buck and Cris Collinsworth

He also hosts a weekly sports radio show on Sporting News Radio, which airs on Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. ET. During twelve consecutive seasons as a quarterback at the Cowboys, he was a six-time Pro Bowl selection, led the team to three Super Bowl victories, and was the MVP of Super Bowl XXVII.
