Valerie Jarrett is an American businesswoman who served as the senior adviser to President of the United States Barack Obama from 2009 to 2017. She also served as a co-chair of the Obama–Biden Transition Project.

Born Valerie June Bowman is the daughter of James E. Bowman, a physician, and specialist in pathology, genetics, and hematology, and Barbara T. Bowman who is an advocate, professor, and author. She was born in Shiraz, Iran on November 14, 1956, and is 62 years.
