William Stephen Belichick who is better known as Bill Belichick is an American football coach who has the record of five Super Bowls win as a head coach. Belichick's prophecy on success as one of the greatest coaches in NFL did not happen all at once. His journey as a coach began after graduation when he took a $25-per-week job as an assistant to Baltimore Colts head coach Ted Marchibroda in 1975. He has come a long way since then.

His big break with the professional teams of the NFL came in 1979 when he joined the New York Giants alongside head coach Ray Perkins as a defensive assistant. He stayed with the team for 12 long years during which, he was named the defensive coordinator in 1985.

The Giants won the Super Bowls in 1986 and 1990 during his time there. In the Super Bowl XXV, his defensive game plan led to the New York Giants' 20-19 upset which is now in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. After his departure from the Giants, Belichick started as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns.

Belichick was with the team only till 1995 and was fired on February 14, 1996. After his dismissal, he became an assistant head coach and defensive coach for the Patriots in 1996.

The Patriots won the AFC championship with a record of 11-5 but lost in the Super Bowl XXXI. Belichick coached the New York Jets from 1997- 1999 and returned as the head coach of the New England Patriots in 2000.

It is with this team he made history. He led the team to a Super Bowl XXXVI victory in 2001, in which Tom Brady played a major part. He had a bust in the year 2002 with the team going 9-7 and missing the playoffs. He also led the Patriots the team to a super bowl victory in XXXVIII, XXXIX, XLIX, and LI.
