The Magic immediately traded him to the Golden State Warriors. A deal made in exchange for Penny Hardaway. On October 19, 1993, the Warriors offered him a 15-year contract worth $74.4 million. However, Chris played a single season with the Warriors and joined the Washington Wizards in 1994 and played until 1997.

For the 1998-99 season, Chris joined the Sacramento Kings, where he was offered $10 million for the first season. On July 27, 2001, Chris signed a 7-year contract worth $127 million with the Kings.

In February 2005, Chris joined the Philadephia 7ers, where he played for 2 years making an average of $18 million annually. In 2007, Chris joined the Detriot Pistons and returned to the Warriors in 2008
