Zandra Rhodes is an English renowned fashion designer born as Zandra Lindsey Rhodes on the 19th of September 1940 in Chatham, Kent, England. Though the details of her parents are unknown, it is known that she was inspired to take up fashion by her mother, who was a fitter for the Paris Fashion House of Worth. Her mother was also a lecturer at the Medway College of Art

Rhodes started her collegiate studies at the Medway College of Art (University for the Creative Arts) and later joined the Royal College of Art in London. The lady's major area of interest was printed textile design. 

She started out with her textile designs in the early stages of her career but, all of her designs were thought to be too outrageous by the British Manufacturers. This inspired her to change her career line to that of fashion designing where she used her printed textiles as a part of her garments. 

Her first shop, The Fulham Road Clothes Shop opened in 1967 in London with the co-partnership of Sylvia Ayton. Two years later, she established herself as a prominent designer as her designs were featured in Diana Vreeland's American Vogue

After that, she raked up to fame as her designs started to grab the attention of several high-profile designers, Henri Bendel, Sakowitz, Neiman Marcus, and Saks. Throughout her career, she became the Designer of the Year in 1972 and Royal Designer for Industry in 1974

With her glamorous looks and designs, she got the nickname of Princess of Punk. The lady has designed dresses for several high-profile clientele such as Princess Diana, Elizabeth Taylor, Anastasia, Kylie Minogue, Paris Hilton, and so on.
