Dick began his professional career as a TV comedian as the cast member of the sketch comedy program, The Ben Stiller Show, which opened on the Fox Network from September 1992 to January 1993.
In 1993, Dick played the role of "Donnie the CBS Page Who Likes to Suck Up" on David Letterman's new CBS show.
Later in 2001, Andy and his college friends and producers launched a show on MTV, The Andy Dick Show. This show didn't run for a long time and stopped its run in 2003, after three seasons. Following this, in 2004, Dick appeared in a satirical reality television show on MTV, The Assistant.

Besides, Andy has also been involved in some legal issues and has been arrested a few times. Andy was jailed at about 4 a.m. at a bar in Huntington, West Virginia, on charges of sexual abuse after he reportedly groped a barkeeper and a patron. He was released from jail after pleading not guilty and paying $60,000 for bail.

Following the claims of sexual harassment and assault on set, Andy was fired from his role in the movie Raising Buchanan.
