The Red Devils, Manchester United's 2019 Champions League run ended in the quarter-finals on Wednesday 16th April 2019, at the Camp Nou as Lionel Messi led Barcelona to a marvellous victory.

Manchester United was dominating the game in the first half until the brilliance of Messi and the mistake by United's goalkeeper David de Gea helped Barca take the lead.

Messi put Barca ahead with a fine goal from 20 yards in the 16th minute of the game.

Four minutes later goalkeeper De Gea let a weaker shot from the Argentian inside the net boosting Barcelona's performance.

Philippe Coutinho scored the third goal for Barca, which came in the 61st minute.

The Red Devils' first goal post attempt came just 40 seconds after the playoff when Marcus Rashford's ball hit the bars.

Alexis Sanchez's spectacular header, which was saved by Barcelonian goalkeeper Marc Andre ter Stegen in the 90th minute, was the only attempt from United in the second half.

It was a hard night for Manchester manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Camp Nou, where he scored his most famous goal, the stoppage-time winner in the 1999 Champions League final.

Barca will now face either Liverpool or Porto in the semi-finals, with the Reds taking a 2-0 lead into Wednesday's second leg.
