During his childhood, Caleb Followill alongside his cousin, Matthew occasionally enlisted to perform drums while his father Ivan preached at churches and tent revivals throughout Oklahoma and the Deep South.
Followill was either homeschooled or enrolled in small parochial schools by her mothers. Further, after the divorce of his parents in 1997, he moved outside Nashville and originally embraced country music. While there, he met Angelo Petraglia, a songwriter, who introduced him to the musical influences of Thin Lizzy, The Rolling Stones and The Clash in particular.
In 1999 Caleb Followill formed a band, “King of Leon”, which was named after his grandfather, who died in 2014. The band is composed of Caleb, as a lead vocalist and his brothers: Nathan Followill as drummers, percussionist, backing vocals and Jared Followill as bass guitarist, backing vocal, along with their cousin Matthew Followill, the lead guitarist of the band.
The Followill's debuted in the music industry with the album “Youth and Young Manhood”, which was the first release in the UK and later in the USA. The following year, “Kings of Leon” released their second album, “Aha Shake Heartbreak” which was produced by Angelo Petraglia and Ethan Johns.
