Jade McCarthy is an American sportscaster. Born on July 20, 1980, McCarthy is an anchor on ESPN's SportsCenter. She formerly hosted NESN Daily for the network NESN.
McCarthy was born in Massachusetts. She showed interest in outdoor sports since she was a kid. She used to ride horses and even participated in related competitions in her hometown and near Boston, where she grew up. She attended Mount Holyoke College.
36-year-old McCarthy started her career at WGGB-TV in her hometown of Massachusetts. She moved on to WAFF, the NBC affiliate in Alabama and worked there for a short time. She was a sports anchor at WCAU in Philadelphia. It was there that she won numerous Sports Emmy-Awards.
McCarthy joined NESN in early 2010. There she was a part-time host and reporter for SportsDesk. But the program was canceled by the network. McCarthy then went on to become the host of the network's new show NESN Daily.
Amidst her ongoing mildly successful career as a journalist, McCarthy got married to Gordon Stead. Her husband Stead is not related to her field but they seem to be going strong. A rumor of their divorce had surfaced a few years ago but it has never been denied nor confirmed.
But with two children, this family of four seems to be heading on the right track- the happy track.
The rumor might have arisen due to the fact that in 2011, after her husband got a job in Philadelphia, McCarthy had to leave her job in NESN. But she was hired by ESPN a year later so all went well.
That same year, McCarthy gave birth to her first child, a son. They named him Mac. Their second child was born on August of 2015.
“We found out just after my New Year’s trip to the Cotton Bowl that our family of three would be a family of four come fall” McCarthy revealed in mid-2015.
