Chung met Povich while she was in WTTG-TV hosting the WTTG news in 1968. They dated for 7 years before taking a big step of tying the knot in their lives. Chung married Povich in 1984. Despite being married for 32 amazing years, journalist Chung and talk show host Povich’s relation is still as healthy as it was in the beginning. 
During an interview, Chung revealed the real secret between her long lasting marital relationship. She said that it’s better not to do anything together and one should let the other half do what they want to do. She also said:

“I don’t believe in imposing my friends on my husband and I don’t want him to impose his golf friends on me!”

 “We are happy to confirm that after a long period of waiting we have adopted a boy, Matthew Jay Povich. We are thrilled and ecstatic."

Despite Matthew, Chung is a mother to two of her step-daughters, Susan Povich and Amy Povich. Susan and Amy are Povich’s daughters from his previous wife, Phyllis Minkoff.
