Jay Z and Beyonce being Honored by GLAAD Media Awards for Supporting LGBTQ Community

GLAAD announced that they will be honoring the power couple Beyonce and Jay Z, by presenting them the Vanguard Award for their unfaltering support towards the LGBTQ community, at their upcoming GLAAD Media Awards.

GLAAD, who work for the rights of lesbian, gay, transgender, bisexual and/or queer announced on 11th March 2019, Monday that Jay Z and Beyonce will be honored at their forthcoming award function this March.

Beyoncé and JAY-Z will receive the Vanguard Award at the #GLAADawards in Los Angeles on March 28th for their work promoting LGBTQ acceptance.

The award is presented to individuals who have made a significant difference in promoting acceptance of LGBTQ people.

Previous recipients of the awards are Cher, Britney Spears, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Aniston, Charlize Theron, and Patricia Arquette.

In context to Jay and Beyonce, CEO, Sarah Kate stated 

When Beyoncé and JAY-Z speak, the world becomes inspired and when it comes to LGBTQ people, their voices of acceptance have been heard loud and clear.

We could not be prouder to stand with them to send a message of love during the biggest LGBTQ event in the world and to honor their work to bend the arc of justice forward for LGBTQ people, people of color, and marginalized communities everywhere

Beyonce is a long time supporter of the LGBTQ community while Jay Z will be receiving the GLAAD Media Awards for the second time in a row.

Prior to this Jay Z received a Special Recognition Award for his single titled Smile, from the album 4:44, which deals with the revelation that his mother, Gloria Carter was, in fact, a lesbian.

The GLAAD Awards will be handed out in ceremonies held in Los Angeles and New York, on March 28 and May 4 respectively.
