Kadi Sesay was born on 4th of March 1949 in Rotifunk, Moyamba District, Sierra Leone. Her parents were from the Temne ethnic group who belongs to rural chieftaincy town of Rhombe. Regarding her nationality, she is a Sierra Leonean and belongs to African ethnicity. Her birth sign is Pisces.
Sesay completed her primary education at the EUB Primary School. She then enrolled at Magburuka Secondary School for girls. Later she attended Fourah Bay College from where she earned her BA degree, majoring in Literature and English Language.
Sesay holds an MA degree in African Literature from the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom as well as earned a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics at the University of London.
Sesay began her profession as a lecturer at Fourah Bay College, where she served for twenty years and later became head of the English Department. She next served on the National Commission for Democracy and Human Right as the chairperson.
Kadi Sesay became the first woman to head a national commission; however, she left the post to work for Development and Economic planning as Minister. After three years, she became the Presidential running mate to Rtd. Brigadier Gen. Julius Madda Bio for the 2012 General Elections.
