Katherine Kay was born in 1964, in Wallingford, Berkshire. She grew up in Blewbury, which is now known as Oxfordshire. She spent her youth in various Middle East countries because her father was posted there as a British diplomat. She also knows multiple languages as well. She studied French and Italian at the University of Oxford.
After Katty graduated from college, she worked in the Bank of England for a couple of months. But economics wasn’t her thing, and because of that, she had to leave for Zimbabwe to work in an aid agency. After some time, she again returned to London to work for BBC. She finally started working in BBC World Service radio. Later, she got transferred to Tokyo for BBC News television in 1992. Again, she got posted to Washington D.C, in 1996.

A few years later, she joined ‘The Times’ news bureau and again she returned to BBC but this time as a freelance journalist in 2002. From June 2004 onwards, Katty started co-presenting the BBC world news bulletins. She worked in London with Mike Embley.
Soon in 2007, she became the correspondent of BBC World’s one-hour Washington-based news broadcast on BBC World News America. We can see the show on BBC America, BBC World News, and BBC News Channel. Currently, she is working as an anchor in the show.
Kay also appears on several shows like Meet the Press (NBC), Morning Joe, The Chris Matthews Show, Larry King Live (CNN), Real-time with Bill Maher (HBO). She married an ex-BBC reporter. Her husband is Tom Carver. He is the current Control Risks Group and the senior vice-president. She along with her husband has four children.

Besides journalism, Katty has written some books as well. Harper Business published one of her books on 15th April 2014, The Confidence Code: The Science and Art of Self-Assurance–What Women Should Know. She wrote the book with Shipman. She was also a Vlogger. She used to write a lot of blogs until 2009. The salary of a BBC news presenter ranges between $24,240 and $70,829. Depending on their work and rank, they can receive a bonus of up to $14,000.
