A former American professional figure skater, author, philanthropist, and the founder of the Always Dream Foundation, Kristi Tsuya Yamaguchi was born on July 12, 1971, in Hayward, California, USA, to her parents Jim Yamaguchi and Carole Yamaguchi.  

1986

Won the Junior Title

Kristi Tsuya Yamaguchi won a junior title at the U.S. Championships in 1986, before winning the World Championship titles along with the professional figure skater Rudy Galindo. They worked together for approximately four years but eventually split up to start a solo career.     




 

1991

Won the World Championships

After splitting from Rudy Galindo and starting a solo career, Kristi became 1991 world figure skating champion, which was held in Munich, Germany. Besides, she also attended the psychology classes at the University of Alberta and the same year, she was placed second to Tonya Harding at the U.S. championships.

 

1996

Established Always Dream Foundation

Apart from the figure skating career, Kristi Yamaguchi established the Always Dream Foundation for children in 1996. This organization mostly cares for the underprivileged children providing the facilities of food, clothes, shelter and other basic needs.
