Matt Baker was born on 23rd December 1977 in Easington, County Durham, England. He was born in the middle-class family. His father owned a newsagents shop and sheep farm. 

1998

Graduate from Queen Margaret's Univeristy.

After completing graduation from Belmont Comprehensive School, Matt pursued his bachelor's of Arts degree in acting from Queen Margaret's University located in Edinburgh. 

2000

Worked at Blue Peter

A year before his graduation from university, he got a chance as a presenter on a show Blue Peter. While working at Blue Peter, he was awarded by BAFTA for Best Children's Presenter twice, and Royal Television Society. He worked there for seven years and left the show.

Matt Baker married his long-term girlfriend Nicole Mooney at Winston in Teesdale in 2004. The couple met each other while Matt was performing in the disco show at Pier 39 in Cleethorpes. Matt and Nicole are blessed with a son, Luke and a daughter.

Matt wanted to pursue his career as a physiotherapist but wasn't able to score standard academically. Afterward, he joined Queen Margaret University, and a year before his graduation, he got a chance to appear in Blue Peter as a presenter. While working on Blue Peter, he was awarded by BAFTA for Best Children's Presenter twice, and Royal Television Society. He worked there for seven years and left the show.   

After that, he was a guest presenter on BBC One's magazine programme, The One Show in 2010. During his service, he earned wide recognition and media attention for asking the Prime Minister David Cameron, "How on earth do you sleep at night?". 

Moreover, Baker also co-presented Countryfile Summer Diaries on BBC One, Open Country in Radio 4, Aminal Rescue Squad International in Channel 5, Secret Britain, One Man, and his Dog. He was the guest presenter on BBC One's The One Show. Besides, he also presented the final series of the BBC's City Hospital and also served as a commentator on several gymnastic events including 2008 Summer Olympics for BBC.
