After being aired live on VH1 Special on May of 2015, the marriage of Love & Hip Hop: New York stars Yandy Smith and Mendeecees Harris seems to be on the rocks. Apparently such smoke rose when Smith hosted a ‘Going Away Celebration’ last January for her husband who received a 97-month conviction last December, plus five years supervised release, after being found guilty of federal drug trafficking charges.

Mendeecees and Yandy Smith Love Affair and Married Life: Career

The pair had tied the knot after Mendeecees was released serving fifteen months for some serious drug trafficking charges. But L&HH fans know very well that Smith is an Aries and Harris is a Scorpio and according to horoscopes their sign is completely compatible. It is believed that when Aries and Scorpio come together in a love match, it can be the kind of relationship in which they both wonder how they had not been together before.

According to reports, Harris and his wife, Yandy Smith, have a net worth of $15 million and as part of his plea agreement, Harris has agreed to forfeit $2.5 million in assets, including the money he earns through his role on Love & Hip Hop and speaking engagements. He was given a $600,000 bond for his initial charges of 2012 but is still dealing with court proceedings. Democrat & Chronicle reported that as part of Harris’ $600,000 bail agreement, anytime he is on Love & Hip Hop or does a paid public appearance he must pay up the cash to the feds.

34-year-old Smith has already earned a position on Billboard Magazine's Top 30 executives under 30 because of her business savvy trait. She is an entertainment powerhouse and entrepreneur who is a part-owner, President, and brand manager of the lifestyle brand Everything Girls Love. Harris, on the other hand, works in the music industry as a manager and is also the owner of Beat Factory studio in the Bronx and has already been under federal prosecution at 37 years old.

Nevertheless, after learning of her husband’s 97-month sentence back in December, Yandy Smith posted to Instagram to thank fans and proclaim that “love will prevail”. Smith’s social media is filled with declarations of love to her man and insistence that they'll be together forever.

Smith has already struggled to care for two kids when Harris was locked up for a year before being married. This recent turn of events means that she will be a single mother to three children for at least five years now. 

Mendeecees was freed from prison in January 2020 after serving a four-year sentence, and he was reunited with his family. Yandy and Mendeecees continue to appear on "Love & Hip Hop: New York" and give family updates on social media. They appear to be doing well and are committed to raising a strong and happy family. They married in 2015, but they re-established their vows in 2021.
