Singing debut in For my Liberty

Houston's Southeast Inspirational Choir released 'For my Liberty in 1982 with Yolanda as featured vocalist. This was her first appearance in the music industry and she used to lead the choir.

1987

Release of Debut Album Just As I Am

Her debut gospel album was released by Sound of Gospel record label whose producer Thomas Whitfield had discovered her after her Houston's Southeast Inspirational Choir released 'For my Liberty' in1982 with Yolanda as featured vocalist. The album opened to #8 on the Billboard''s Top Gospel Albums.

1990

Divorced first husband Troy Mason

Her personal life has not been as smooth as her music career. She was in an abusive relationship with her husband Troy Mason from1987 - 1990 which eventually led to the dissolution of their marriage.
