Do you remember the guy in the American comedy movie Pulp Fiction who was hiding in the bathroom while Samuel L. Jackson gives his big bible speech? Yes, that guy was Alexis Arquette before she became a woman.

She is an actress, cabaret performer as well as and underground cartoonist. She is transgender and supports other people to make similar transitions.

3) Chaz Bono

American advocate and writer, Chaz Bono was born as a baby girl. However, he announced her lesbianism back in 1995.

4) Carmen Carrera

You might have heard of The Wachowski Brothers. Larry and Andy Wachowski were the film directors, screenwriters, and producers. They were well-known for being the masterminds behind The Matrix franchise and V for Vendetta.

Well, Larry is now Lana Wachowski when her transition from male to female was officially completed in 2008.

6) Janet Mock

Janet Mock is the Chief Editor of People Magazine who stunned every people when she announced via a 2011 Marie Claire article that she was born a male, and underwent sex reassignment surgery at the age of 18, she became transgender. She said;

I was born in what doctors proclaim is a boy’s body, I had no choice in the assignment of my sex at birth. My genital reconstructive surgery did not make me a girl. I was always a girl.

7) Amanda Lepore

Amanda Lepore was born as a boy named Armand Lepore. She is a model, recording artist, performance artist as well as a fashion and nightlife icon. Just a few years back she confirmed that she is transgender.

8) Thomas Beatie

Thomas Beatie is popularly known as the first man who gave birth to a child. After having gender reassignment surgery in 2002, Beatie used artificial insemination in 2007 to bear children because his wife was infertile. He successfully became pregnant but unfortunately lost all three fetuses during birth.

Ever since then he has managed to give birth to three children successfully, however, his married life didn't have a happy ending as his wife filed for a divorce.

9) Dr. Marci Bowers

Dr. Marci Bowers is also one of the key innovators behind transgender surgery. She is an American gynecologist who regularly conducts gender reassignment surgery on various patients, but she has actually undergone the procedure herself.

Throughout most of her adult life, Dr. Murci Browers was a male. She is still married and has three children. He was at the age of 39 when she became female.

10) Candis Cayne

You probably heard about the Canadian model Jenna Talackova. She was the one who had beat the courts in a lawsuit over her elimination from the Miss Universe Canada competition on account of being born male.

It took exactly five years to accomplish her transition from male to female. She began her gender transition at the age of 14 which was completed when she was 19 years.

12) Laverne Cox

Laverne Cox is a famous American actress widely known for her current role in the hit Netflix series, Orange Is the New Black. You know what, she is the first and remains to be the only transgender person who is nominated for an Emmy Award. She was born as a boy, however, later she transitioned from male to female.
