Marling’s first encounter with Cahill took place while she was in Georgetown. She was inspired by Cahill and Batmanhlij’s short film who attended the same college. New York times reported that Marling searched for them and pleaded to work with them on their next movie. Since then, Marling, Cahill, and Batmanhlij became inseparable. They began from college to Cuba which eventually led them to Hollywood.
