2010–12: Signing to Cinematic Music

In 2010, Joey uploaded a video on Youtube which showed his freestyle techniques. Further, the video was republished on American hip-hop site World Star Hip Hop.

In 2012, Joey and Capital Steez released a video Survival Tactics with the help of their YouTube channel PROfckingERA. Later in February 2012, their collective Pro Era released debut mixtape The Secc$ Tape.  

2012: 1999 and rise in popularity

On June 12, 2012, Joey managed to release his debut solo mixtape 1999. The mixtape helped to him gain popularity. It was also named the 38th best album of 2012 by the Complex magazine and best mixtape of 2012 by HipHopDX. On September 6, 2012, he released his next mixtape entitled Rejex.

With the increasing popularity of Joey, American rapper Mac Miller collaborated with him. Joey appeared in the song America which was from Miller’s 7th mixtape Macadelic. Talking about the year 2013, Joey released second mixtape Summer Knights, Unorthodox. Following up, he released another music video Underground Airplay in February which featured Big K.R.I.T. and Smoke DZA

Later on March 21, 2013, he started the Beast Coast concert tour with Pro Era, along with American hip-hop duo The Underachievers and Flatbush Zombies.

On October 29, 2013, Joey released his another tape Summer Knights EP. The tape managed to peak 48 on the US Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart the same year.

2014–present: B4.DA.$$ and All-Amerikkkan BadA$$

On August 4, 2014, Joey released his debut studio album entitled Big Dusty. On January 20, 2015, Joey released his another album entitled B4.DA.$ $. On September 3, 2015, Joey Badass released a collaborative single Hood along with Korean hip-hop group Epik High's Tablo.

Further on October 6, 2015, he collaborated with British indie rock band Glass Animals and released his single entitled Lose Control.
