Born as Donna Lease Brazile on December 15, 1959, to a family of eight siblings, Donna describes herself as a typical southern girl. Brought up in a working-poor family, Donna has seen hardships from early in her life.

All of her siblings are married now and she has 15 nephews and nieces whom she loves as much as she would love her own. She loves spending time with those kids.
