The fourth richest man in the world Bill Gates and his wife of 27 years, Melinda Gates, are separating. The power couple announced their separation via Twitter on 3rd May 2021.

Bill Gates And Melinda Gates Are Divorcing!
American business magnate Bill Gates and American philanthropist Melinda Ann Gates are separating. The latter filed for divorce, claiming that their marriage is irretrievably broken in a divorce petition.
The two announced their separation via Twitter on Monday. They are filing for divorce after 27 years old marriage. They posted the same joint statement on their Twitter.
As per the statement, the duo revealed that they decided to end their marriage after a great deal of thought and work on their relationship. The statement reads:
We have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives. We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives.
Their divorce announcement comes less than two weeks after they made their last public appearance virtually at a COVID event.
As per the court documents received by Daily Mail, the court documents show that the pair does not have a prenuptial agreement to help them divide their wealth, including a private jet, luxury cars, and properties in five states, and an astonishing art collection.
All those documents came into the spotlight after the pair’s eldest daughter Jennifer revealed that the Gates family is going through a challenging stretch of time. Speaking up about her parents’ divorce, she took her Instagram to announce that she is still learning to support her process and emotions.
Bill Gates And Melinda Gates’ Relationship Timeline
Bill and Melinda met when she joined Microsoft as a product manager in 1987. The duo was seated next to each other at a business dinner in New York City. In a Netflix three episodes series, Inside Bill’s Brain, it was revealed that the software developer made a list on his whiteboard regarding the pros and cons of getting married.
Even though the couple started off casually, they got serious after a year of dating. The two got married in 1994 in Lanai, Hawaii. During the time, Bill was 38, and Melinda was 29. The couple kept their marriage secret and cost more than $1 million.
In the Netflix documentary, Bill said that treating each other as equals is the key to their happy marriage.
The couple shares three kids, Jennifer Katharine Gates, born on 26th April 1996, Rory John Gates, born on 23rd May 1999; and Phoebe Adele Gates, born on 14th September 2002.
Before calling it off, the duo also had a share of ups and downs in their marriage. Melinda once revealed that the secret of surviving was having a little patience.
