In early 2017, Zack Snyder and his producer wife stepped down from the direction of the film Justice League after their daughter Autumn Snyder committed suicide. On March 20, 2017, she took her own life at the age of 20 in Los Angeles, California and the reason for the death was revealed to be drug overdose "Acute Citalopram and Diphenhydramine Intoxication."

Snyder and his then-wife Denise adopted her from China when she was an infant. Aside from being a celebrity kid, Autumn was a writer and a philanthropist. She even led the charity 'Write-A-Thon To End Homelessness For Mothers and Their Children' and helped to raise $12,425.
