Bolton launched his career when he entered the junior rodeo at the age of 10. He won his first bull riding world title at an early age of 20. After that, he spent 14 years bull riding and qualified for the CBR world championship finals five times, from 2007 through 2011.
Bolton made his first appearance on CBR season tour in 2013. From 2007 to 2016, Bonner competed on the PBR circuit.
On February 14-15, 2015, he competed in the Velocity Tour event at the Yakima Valley Sundome in Yakima Washington. In 2016, he suffered from a sprained right MCL.
Besides his bull riding career, he also played Scott Eastwood’s double in the movie The Longest Ride. On 15th April 2015, WME and IMG signed a definitive agreement to acquire the Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR), the elite organization in bull riding throughout the world.
