Helen began her professional career from her hometown New South Wales as a reporter for ABC Radio in 1994.

In 2002, she joined the Nine Network and became a news reporter on Nightline.

She then moved to Melbourne to work in the Network Ten where she presented Ten News at Five.

In 2013, Helen got the shot at Seven Network anchoring in Today Tonight.
