Jene Wilder was born on 11 June 1933, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the USA. His birth name was Jerome Silberman, he had earned big name and fame through his professional career as an actor. 

1960

Married Mercier

Wilder married Mary Mercier on July 22, 1960. However, the couple separated and Wilder began dating Mary Joan Schutz, with whom he adopted a daughter Katherine. Further his relationship with Mary ended with divorce, after seven years of marriage.

1962

Stage Debut

In 1962, Wider made his stage debut through the performance, “The Complaisant Lover”. Sine then, he appeared in five more stage such as Laughter on the 23rd Floor, Luv, The White House and etc

On May 20, 1989, Wilder’s third wife died because of ovarian cancer. Following his wife died, he became active in promoting cancer awareness and treatment.

In this year, Wider started in the movie through, “Another You” as Abe Fielding. He has appeared in altogether two dozen movies, which include Bonnie & Clyde, Rhinoceros, Silver Streak, Young Frankenstein and much more.

Won Primetime Emmy Award

Wilder received “Primetime Emmy Award” for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his role of Mr. Stein in the title Will & Grace. Previously, he has won Clarence Derwent Award and nominated for four times.

2016

Died of Alzheimer’s disease

On 29 August 2016, Gene Wilder died in Stamford, Connecticut, the USA due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 83. According to his family, Wilder died while listening “Over the Rainbow”, his favorite song.

After the completion of his graduation from Washington High School, Gene studied Communication and Theatre Arts at the University of Lowa. At that time, he became the member of the Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity. He then attended the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in Bristol where he studied fencing.

Wider’s professional career started, while he was in Cambridge where he served as the second Officer in Herbert’s production of Twelfth, and as a Fencing choreographer as well.
