Six feet and two inches tall, Johnny was born as J. R. Cash in Kingsland, Arkansas, the United States of American on the laps of Ray Cash and Carrie Clover. He was an American and was of English, Scottish and Irish descent.

In 1951, while Johnny was serving in the air force, he met Vivian Dorraine Liberto. He met her for the first time at a roller skating rink on the 18th of July. She was only 17 at that time. They began their love affairs then. They also exchanged 100s of love letters while he was in Germany.
Finally, on the 17th of August 1954, they got married. As a married couple, they had welcomed four children together. Johnny was an addict to drugs and alcohol and he also had affairs with so many girls. Citing these reasons, Liberto filed for divorce in 1966 and they finally got divorced on the 3rd of January 1968.
While he was on the musical tour, Johnny met June Carter Cash. June Carter Cash was also an American singer, songwriter, and actress. He met her for the first time in 1955 at Grand Ole Opry. While he was forming in London, he proposed to her in a live performance and they finally got married on the 1st of March 1968.
Career
Johnny served in the United States Air Force for several years. He came back from Germany in 1954 and he signed a recording contract with Sun Records.
It is said that he began singing since he was five. His debut single, Hey, Porter was released on the 21st of May 1955, and his second single, Cry! Cry! Cry! was released one month later.
His debut album, With His Hot and Blue Guitar, was released on the 11th of October 1957. Besides singing, he was also an actor and he made his acting debut in 1959.
His debut acting was in the television series, Shotgun Slade.
