At the age of seven Carr was diagnosed with a very rare disease called arthrogryposis multiplex Congenital. Later when she became 11 years old, the doctor revealed that she would need a wheelchair for the rest of her life. Although Carr was physically weak and she had to use a wheelchair, Carr kept herself mentally strong.
Later Carr appeared in numerous comedy shows and groups such as Abnormally Funny People with Tanyalee Davis, Steve Day, Steve Best, and Chris McCausland. Because of her hard work and struggle, in 2007, Carr became runner-up in the Hackney Empire New Act of The Year competition.
Moreover, Carr also co-hosted the BBC's Royal Television Society award winning OUCH! podcast with, Mat Fraser from 2006-2013. Later in 2011 Carr served as a researcher for the BBC comedy panel show called Have I Got News For You.
In 2013 Carr worked in the long-running BBC crime thriller series, Silent Witness as a regular character Clarissa Mullery.
Moving towards her personal life, Carr is the holder of an American nationality and belongs to the white ethnicity. Liz married her long-term boyfriend Jo Church in 2010. The couple is living happy married life.
