Bernsen started his career as soap actor in Ryan’s Hope. He did two years on that show. Bernsen was then cast as lawyer Arnold Becker on Steven Bochco's television series L.A. Law in 1986. The series was a huge hit, eventually earning him an Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. He remained in the cast until its closure in 1994.

Bernsen then made a move to the films, starring with Bruce Payne in films like Kounterfeit and Aurora: Operation Intercept.

He also played the role of Dr. Alan Feinstone in the horror movie The Dentist, and also its sequel. He was then also cast as prima donna third baseman Roger Dorn in the sports comedy Major League and appeared for both its sequels. The movie was his most successful project and grossed a sum of $50,000,000 at the box office.

He also played John Durant in General Hospital, until the character was murdered in May 2006. Bernsen then played Jack Sherwood in Cuts and played a lawyer on Boston Legal.

Corbin has also appeared on the sets of iconic sci-fi series Star Trek: The Next Generation as Q2 alongside stars like Patrick Steward, and Jonathan Frakes.

He also had a recurring role as Captain Owen Sebring in the military drama JAG. He also co-starred in Psych, where he played Henry Spencer, the father of the main character Shawn Spencer.

Corbin then formed Team Cherokee Productions with Kyle MacDonald.Corbin now produces a lot of movies based on the theme of Christianity. Rust, was one such movie, which was released in 2010 by Sony Pictures.

He then collaborated with producer/partner Chris Aronoff to form Home Theater Films, an independent production company, and released movie like 25 Hill (2012), 3 Day Test (2012), Beyond The Heavens(2013), and Christian Mingle (2014).
