'So Awkward' Actor Archie Lyndhurst Died At 19- Cause Of Death and Career Achievements

Just a month shy from his 20th birthday, English actor (late) Archie Lyndhurst died peacefully in his sleep in September 2020. A loss of an emerging on-screen talent shook the whole world in the midst of coronavirus pandemic, though the reason for death was not clearly stated at the time raising a lot of curiosity.

Months after the demise of the So Awkward actor, his family came up with a beautiful yet heartbreaking tribute in January 2021, added with the actual cause of death. On an Instagram post in mid-January, his mother Lucy Smith wrote that their son died due to Intracerebral Haemorrhage caused by rare blood cancer.

Born on October 4, 2000, in England, the UK, English actor Archie Lyndhurst was the only child of actor father Nicholas Lyndhurst and former ballet dancer mother Lucky Smith. Archie died at his home in Fulham, West London, on September 22, 2020, at the age of 19. He was then working in the TV series So Awkward. 

It was nearly a month shy of his 20th birthday, Lyndhurst was found dead that drove the internet in tears and grief. Just a few days earlier, the late actor celebrated his birthday early with his actress girlfriend Nethra Tilakumara, his So Awkward co-star.

Regarding the disclosure about the cause of Archie's death, his father at that time gave a statement and told the family was "utterly grief stricken and respectfully request privacy." 

Thus, the actual reason was kept under wraps. Some tabloid sources confirmed the young actor's death due to 'short illness'.

Died Of Brain Hemorrhage

Nearly after 5 months of a hard time of losing son Archie Lyndhurst, his mother Lucky took to Instagram on January 15, 2021, and revealed the actual reason behind the actor's untimely death. Reportedly, the family had received the report of the second post-mortem shortly before Christmas.

On her official Instagram account @lucy_lyndhurst, she shared a picture featuring herself, her husband Nicholas, and their late son as a tribute and stated that Archie died of Intracerebral Haemorrhage during the sleep.

She wrote:

"On the 22nd September our world blew apart, the damage caused to it totally irreparable. Archie was, and always will remain our everything. Those of you who know us know the catastrophic effect it has had, and will have on us for the rest of our days. Archie was the most extraordinary magical human being we have ever met.

Archie was the most extraordinary magical human being we have ever met. "As his parents we couldn't be prouder of him for all he achieved in the short time he was given, and especially for the beautiful human being he was."

Moreover, the late actor's mother told that the sudden demise caused due to rare cancer of the blood cells Acute Lymphoblastic Lymphoma/Leukaemia.

"He died from an Intracerebral Haemorrhage caused by Acute Lymphoblastic Lymphoma/Leukaemia. This is not Leukaemia as we know it, the word Acute in medical terms means rapid. He assured us that there wasn’t anything anyone could have done as Archie showed no signs of illness. Archie had numerous bleeds on the brain and the Dr went to great lengths to reassure us that he wouldn’t have been in any pain as it happened in his sleep."

Also, Lyndhurst's then-girlfriend Nethra Tilakumara paid tribute to him on social media several times after his death.

Career Achievements of Archie Lyndhurst

The late English actor Archie Lyndhurst followed his footsteps of father Nicholas Lyndhurst, an actor. The 6 feet 2 inches tall actor turned professional in 2011 with a guest appearance in the TV series Little Crackers.

After a brief hiatus for 3 years, Lyndhurst came back on-screen in 2014 and appeared in Harry & Paul's Story of the 2s (TV film), Jack Whitehall Gets Around: Intro (short), along with TV series: Bad Education and Tonight at the London Palladium.

In 2015, the actor got his career breakthrough as the main cast, Ollie Coulton, in the TV sitcom So Awkward. There, he worked until 2020 in 77 episodes starring Cleo Demetriou, Alex Carter, and Sophia Dall'aglio, before he died of a brain hemorrhage.

The TV series ended after 6 seasons on October 22.

Moreover, Lyndhurst's acting credits include brief roles in Our Ex-Wife (2016) and Casualty (2018). He also voiced in the video games The Secret World: Issue 10 - Nightmares in the Dream Palace (2014) and Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward (2015).

At the time of death in late 2020, Archie had a net worth of $120,000.
