Why Tom Brady Was One Of The Best NFL Stars Of All Time

Pradip Adhikari Sun Jun, 2022

Tom Brady may have stepped down from the field and hung up his boots, but he’s still the name on the lips of even people who don’t follow American football; he’s known to many, loved by many, and has fans he could stack to the moon and back - in short, he’s an NFL superstar that’s wiped the pitch with many of his opponents, and brought bucketloads of fame to the world of American football - and it doesn’t hurt that he’s nice to look at, too. Thousands of people were sorry to see him go, and he’s worth remembering for his astonishing achievements!

If you only know one football star’s name, let’s be honest, it’s probably Tom Brady (though it could be Jerry Rice or Jim Brown if we’re going to be strictly fair). Tom Brady played quarterback for a full 23 seasons - mostly with the New England Patriots, although he then moved to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and certainly helped them steal a few wins. He even set the record for their touchdowns in his very first season with the team - talk about impressive, and no wonder he’s made history.

That’s all very well and good, but what if you’re new to the NFL and you want to better understand who Tom Brady was and why everybody talks about him as the best of the best? Let’s check that out and give you a quick rundown of this extraordinary man’s career.

Seven Super Bowl Smash

Let’s start with the most important thing of all: his Super Bowl success. Tom Brady helped his team to no less than a magical seven Super Bowl victories, across the course of his career; he saw victories in 2002, 2004, 2005, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2021, in a staggering show of athletic prowess and astonishing skill. Wow, what a player; there’s no denying how he seemed to transform the pitch, and his presence likely did an awful lot for the morale of his cohorts, too!

We’re not going to lie we can’t imagine taking home a full seven trophies from one of the most watched sporting events on the planet, and there’s no doubt that Brady’s contributions went a long way in making this happen because he was a phenomenal player… which is what we’re coming to next!

Most Valuable Player Monopoly

Who got named the Most Valuable Player in five different years? Yeah, you guessed it - Brady did. He was the MVP in 2002, 2004, 2015, 2017, and 2021, and it’s no surprise if you watch any playbacks of his games; he was the star of the pitch. His incredible NFL career was pretty valuable to him too; it’s estimated that he took home over $45.2 million in the last 12 months leading up to May 2023. Even other amazing players like Peyton Manning couldn’t match that in a single year.

It’s no wonder that Tom Brady was such a favorite with the bettors when you see those stats, either - although he did often appear as the underdog, he was also the favorite in many of the setups we saw, and he generated enormous attention from the gambling community, with thousands flocking to place bets on his team, both when he was with the Patriots and when he made the switch to the Buccaneers. The Super Bowl Odds always generate plenty of attention and speculation, but it’s legends like Brady that set the records and put stars in the eyes of the community.

Of course, Brady retired (for good this time - we know, we’re devastated too) in 2023, leaving others to take up the torch and try to fill his very big boots. So, what came next…?

Patriots Hall Of Fame

There’s little wonder that the Patriots Hall of Fame is eagerly waiting to give Brady his place there, but did you know that they made a special exception on the four-year post-retirement waiting period most players have to manage - and we’ll see Brady get inducted in the summer of 2024. What’s more, the ceremony is going to happen in the Gillette Stadium, a team first, and they’re also making Brady a “Keeper of the Light,” with the redesigned lighthouse being unveiled. Brady’s commitment to his beloved team remains unwavering and fans have been delighted to see such honors heaped upon him - and honestly, we are too.

Nice To The Last

Another thing that has given Brady his place in the spotlight and a chance to shine, apart from being such a phenomenal player, is his personality. Nobody is universally popular, of course, but it seems Brady was trying for this almost as hard as he was trying for his big wins - and yes, he saw pretty similar levels of success, with many people stating he was simply “impossible to hate!” Where many athletes let fame go to their heads and struggle to stay grounded, it seems Tom Brady had his feet firmly on the floor through every kick and pass - and that has only made his fans love him more.
